Synaptic would need patches in order to properly work with the 3.90 
release, the ... guess what ... Synaptic install progress stuff is all 
screwed up because of the enhancements in 3.90 progress reporting. I've 
had a look at the install-progress stuff in Synaptic a couple of times and 
I don't think it's sanely fixable by anything else than creating a proper 
API for it. That, or reverting (some of) the related changes in apt-rpm.

So basically, Synaptic and 0.5.15lorg3.90 are not really compatible 
(installs etc do actually work but it doesn't *look* like it works). 
Obviously fixing this one way or the other is an absolute must for the 
next stable release which I'd like to have out in time for FC7. I'm not 
tied to FC schedule in any way but having some kind of a deadline 
sometimes helps getting things done :)
