[Apt-Rpm] Apt-update: "Sub-process bzip2 returned an error code (100)"

Hello,

I've got a problem with apt.

Setup:

I got a virtual machine running via VMWare Server , running openSUSE
10.3 as guest OS. On the host I rsynced the 10.3 OSS repository, and
used aptate to create my own repository. I publish it via ftp on the host.

When using this repo on the host in sources.list as

rpm ftp://robin/apt/ openSUSE/10.3/i586 OJS_OSS_REPO_LOKAL

everything works fine.

But when using the exact line in the virtual machine (as the only line
in sources.list, just to be sure) I always get

> Err ftp://robin apt/openSUSE/10.3/i586/OJS_OSS_REPO_LOKAL pkglist
> Sub-process bzip2 returned an error code (100)
> Fetched 5695kB in 4s (1222kB/s)
> Failed to fetch ftp://robin/openSUSE-10.3/apt/openSUSE/10.3/i586/base/pkglist.OJS_OSS_REPO_LOKAL Sub-process bzip2 returned an error code (100)

when I start an "apt-get update". While watching the output during the
update, I see that the pkglist-File is fetched, but always quits at 96%,
and then tells me that bzip2 returned an error code.

I tried a lot of thing, more RAM to the virtual machine, shutting down
the firewalls on host+guest, but nothing works.

BTW: The same setup works great with a VM running 10.2 and and rsynced
oss-repository, also created with aptate.

Any hints? Tipps? Places where to look?
