[Apt-Rpm] API reference docs for libapt-pkg

Hello,
 
I am planning to use apt-rpm in my app for installation/up gradation of
custom as well as standard open source components. Happened to see a few
front ends (e.g.: Synaptic) utilizing libapt-pkg API for similar
purpose, but couldn't find an API reference/manual explaining the API.
 
Can anyone please point me to some good documentation on the API?
